The Grand Mysuru Dasara


 October and November are the festive months of India since these two months witness grand festivals like Navaratri, Dasara, and Deepavali. The South Indian city Mysuru is famous for hosting the grand Dasara festival every year as a part of its tradition. This year it started on October 17 and ended on October 27. Every year the city is decorated and lit up on the eve of Navaratri and Dasara which lasts for 10 days. Rituals are performed to worship the Hindu Goddess Chamunda and various events are organized for public entertainment with the aim to promote the local culture and tradition of Mysuru.

The main host of the festival is the Royal Wadeyor family of Mysuru who resides in the Mysuru Palace. The name of the city Mysuru has a history, as per the city's history, Hindu Goddess Chamunda killed the deadly demon Mahisasur. After his death, the city was named Mysuru and the local devotees built Chamundeshwari temple.



The festival event attracts lakhs of visitors from India and different parts of the world. The idol of Goddess Chamunda moves in a grand procession placed on the mantapa made up of pure gold in a group of musicians, dancers, and elephants. There will be multiple events going on near the palace and one can witness a fair with a variety of shopping options for handicrafts, jewelry, clothes, toys, sweets, fruits, snacks, etc. For these 10 days, the city sparkles due to the flashes of lightning, visitors can see the various forms of traditional dances and kinds of music performed on the stage representing the heritage of Karnataka and India. The Golden Throne is kept in the royal Durbar Hall for public viewing only once a year these days. As per historians, the Royal Wadeyor family has been celebrating the grand Dasara festival along with organizing events for the public and tourists for the last 400 years. How to reach Mysuru?
Mysuru is also counted among the largest cities in Karnataka after Bengaluru, it has also recognized several times as the cleanest city. The city is very well connected by roadways, railways, and airways due to its infrastructure.

By Roadways:
Mysuru is connected by NH-212 and SH-17 which connects Mysuru-Bengaluru. It is 140 km from Bengaluru and frequent luxury and normal buses operated by Government and private operators.

By Railways:
Mysuru railway station is in the city itself connecting three different lines that are Bengaluru, Mangaluru, and Chamarajanagara. Train from major cities of India ply to Mysuru, some ply daily whereas some ply on a weekly and bi-weekly basis.

By Airways:
Mysuru has its own domestic airports and flights of various airlines fly from different cities of India. The other nearest airports to Mysuru are Kannur International Airport, Kannur, and Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru.

Sushant Singh Rajput's "girlfriend" Rhea Chakraborty has requested Home Minister Amit Shah for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) enquiry into the late actors death.
