Arpita Mukherjee informs ED about duplicate keys of Belgharia residence

  Arpita Mukherjee, the close aide of Partha Chatterjee tainted in connection to the multi- crore West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) recruitment scam, has informed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) that her residence at Belgharia in the northern outskirts of Kolkata had multiple duplicate keys and hence accessed by many others in her absence. Starting from Wednesday evening till the early morning of Thursday, ED sleuths recovered cash worth Rs 27.90 crore and 6 kg of gold from this particular residence officially owned by Mukherjee. ED sources said that they will try to confirm Mukherjee's confession on this count from the caretaker, security personnel and other residents in the said housing complex on whether they have noticed anyone other than her entering the flat by opening the keys. 13 UP IAS Officers shifted, Varanasi gets new District Magistrate

  Lucknow, July 29 (UITV/IANS)  The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has transferred 13 IAS and 20 PCS officers. The transfer list includes the name of Varanasi District Magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma who has now been posted as Commissioner Prayagraj. The new District Magistrate is S. Rajalingam. Kaushal Raj Sharma holds the distinction of being the longest serving District Magistrate. A 2006 batch IAS officer, he was posted in 6 different districts in 12 years. He was promoted to the rank of Secretary/Commissioner six months ago. While other IAS officers of the 2006 batch were upgraded to Commissioner level rank, the state government kept Sharma as the District Magistrate of Varanasi. While Kushinagar, Unnao, Fatehpur and Balarampur will also have new District Magistrates, Banda and Jhansi will get new Commissioners, apart from Prayagraj. My flats used as storehouses of illegal cash: Arpita Mukherjee confesses to ED

  Kolkata, July 28 (UITV/IANS)  In the wake of the two consecutive recoveries of massive amounts of cash and gold from two of her residences in Kolkata's Tollygunge and Belgharia, Arpita Mukherjee on Thursday confessed to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) that she was forced by West Bengal Minister Partha Chatterjee to allow her houses to be used to store the illegal cash. According to ED sources, Mukherjee also admitted that the cash recovered from her residences was parked there by Chatterjee with the help of one of his close associates unknown to her. "She has confessed that Chatterjee used to come to both her Tollygunge and Belgharia residences once or even twice a week, and during his visits, he was accompanied by a person unknown to her. Mukherjee has also confessed that she did not even have access to the keys of the cupboards from where the cash recoveries were made. Slovakia, Poland, Italy help Czech Republic fight forest fire

  Prague, July 27 (UITV/IANS)  Slovakia, Poland and Italy have offered to send firefighting aircraft to the Czech Republic to help the country to contain a large forest fire in a national park. Currently, 410 firefighters from 83 units are fighting the fire in the Bohemian Switzerland National Park near the town of Hrensko, the country's Fire Rescue Service (FRS CR) said on Tuesday. Four helicopters and two airplanes are also helping on site. "Within the framework of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, we requested three Canadair aircraft and two helicopters to manage the forest fire in Hrensko. Poland responded with an offer of a helicopter," the Fire Rescue Service said in a tweet, adding that Slovakia and Italy also responded to "our request for help with aerial firefighting". Rectified defects identified in 10 aircrafts, says Spicejet

  New Delhi, July 26 (UITV/IANS)  Budget carrier SpiceJet said that it rectified the defects and malfunctions identified in 10 planes by the DGCA and all these ten aircraft are back in operation. The rectification had been done immediately after the DGCA observation. "A series of spot checks were carried out recently on all operating aircraft of M/s Spicejet from 9th July 2022 to 13th July 2022. A total of 53 spot checks were carried out on 48 aircraft which did not find any major significant finding or safety violation," the aviation ministry told Rajya Sabha in a reply to a question. The ministry further informed Parliament that DGCA had carried out the regulatory audit of three scheduled airlines, including SpiceJet as per published Annual Surveillance Programme (ASP) 2022. The civil aviation ministry also informed Parliament that the crew of the SpiceJet flight that was diverted to Karachi on July 5 did not declare emergency nor was there any fuel leak in the aircraft. Rajasthan BJP breaches Gehlot's fort as 2 cross-vote for Murmu

  Jaipur, July 22 (UITV/IANS)  In the presidential election, the BJP has managed to breach the fort of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot as two Congress MLAs cross-voted for NDA candidate Droupadi Murmu. The names of the MLAs have not been disclosed yet, but doubts are being raised about an independent and an ally. MLA Shobharani Kushwaha, expelled from the BJP for voting for the Congress candidate in the Rajya Sabha elections, has reportedly voted for the UPA candidate Yashwant Sinha. Droupadi Murmu, who won the presidential election, got the votes of 75 MLAs from Rajasthan and Yashwant Sinha obtained 123 votes. Congress MLA Bhanwarlal Sharma and BTP MLA Rajkumar Roth did not vote. A total of 198 MLAs out of 200 voted in the poll.   Lucknow, July 21 (UITV/IANS)  Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced a financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the people who died after being struck by lightning. Official sources said that at least 14 people were killed and another 16 injured after being struck by lightning in separate incidents in the state on Wednesday. According to the details provided by the relief commissioner's office, four deaths due to lightning were reported from Banda, two from Fatehpur and one each from Balrampur, Chandauli, Bulandshahr, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Kaushambhi, Sultanpur and Chitrakoot districts. The CM expressed grief over the deaths and directed the concerned district magistrates to immediately provide Rs 4 lakh each to the victims' families, the spokesman said. Transgenders in UP to get access to old age home facility

The facility of Garima Bhawan will provide relief for old and ailing transgenders who have no family to fall back on. Canadian govt supports flood, landslide recovery efforts in British Columbia

Udaipur killing: NIA picks up man in Hyderabad

  Hyderabad, July 6 (UiTV/IANS)  - The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has conducted a raid in Hyderabad and detained a person for his alleged links with the accused in the Udaipur killing. The man, said to be hailing from Bihar, was picked up by a team of NIA officials from a hotel in the Santosh Nagar area. He was taken to NIA office in Madhapur for questioning. According to sources, the raid was conducted as part of the investigation into the murder of Udaipur tailor Kanhaiya Lal. The NIA, which is probing the case, reportedly found the mobile number of a person from Bihar in the call data of the accused. The person was traced in Hyderabad. The investigating agency was questioning him about his links with the two accused. Kanhaiya Lal was hacked to death by two men in his shop on June 28 for supporting suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma over her blasphemous remarks.
