YouTube starts rolling out video chapters feature - uit...

Image
YouTube has started rolling out its video chapters features with the aim of helping its users on desktop, mobile or tablets to focus on the portions that matter the most to them. The feature will also allow creators to better organise their content. It is expected to be particularly of great help for long-form videos. With such videos organised by chapters, just like a book, users will be able to skip some portions that they may find irrelevant. "The Video Chapters feature is officially here," the YouTube Twitter handle for creators said on Thursday. "When Chapters are enabled, viewers watch more of the video, and come back more often on average," it added. The video chapters feature was soft launched by YouTube in April, The Verge reported. YouTube users on desktop would know if the video they are watching has chapters when they hover the mouse over the bar that indicates video progress. This bar will have breaks to indicate the end of one chapt

UK PM Boris Johnson unveils 'limited' easing of lockdown

Image
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has unveiled some "limited" and "cautious" easing of the country's coronavirus lockdown measures. Chairing Thursday's Downing Street daily briefing, Johnson said that from June 1, nurseries and schools will reopen, first to Reception, Year 1 and Year 6, reports Xinhua news agency. A fortnight later on June 15, secondary schools will begin to provide face-to-face contact time for Years 10 and 12, said Johnson. Outdoor retail and car showrooms will start to open from June 1 and other non-essential retail will open on June 15, he said. Also starting from June 1, up to six people will be able to meet outdoors, providing members of different households continue to stay two meters apart, said the Prime Minister. Hoping that the government will be able to do more in returning the country to a more normal life, Johnson warned that "this is all conditional" based on the scientific data confirming that these actions are

Protesters take to streets against Chinese anthem law in Hong Kong

Image
Hundreds of protesters on Wednesday gathered on the streets here against a contentious law criminalizing disrespect towards the Chinese national anthem , leading to the police making arrests and using tear gas on demonstrators. State media RTHK said the protesters raised slogans such as "Disband the police immediately," and "Five demands not one less," one of the most repeated ones since the protests began last year. They also tried to block traffic on the streets with items such as trash cans, amid the riot police warning them that they risked being arrested for illegal assembly if they did not disperse, Efe news reported. Some shops in the area decided to ask their customers to leave and closed down over fears of the unrest escalating. Shortly after 2 p.m. (local time), police issued a statement that the protesters were disrupting traffic and urged them to leave as soon as possible, while warning it would use minimum necessary force to enforce the law. US aircraft carrier's Indo-Pacific deployment begins

Image
The Yokosuka-based aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan officially began its Indo-Pacific deployment this week, the US Navy has said in a statement. More than 1,000 tonnes of ordnance, 5,000 crew and more than 60 aircraft were moved aboard the carrier for the deployment, the Navy said. Its crew completed phased sequestrations before embarking the ship to mitigate the chance of bringing coronavirus-positive sailors on board. "The (restriction-of-movement) period allowed the fleet leadership the ability to monitor the health of the force in a controlled facility and build a safe environment for sailors to accomplish assigned missions at sea," the statement said. Like the Blue Ridge, the USS Ronald Reagan is unlikely to make port visits so soon after the virus sidelined aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt for nearly two months this spring, according to an April 22 report. An outbreak among a few Roosevelt sailors in March led to more than 1,150 of their shipmates testing p

The singer looked back at the start of their relationship in an interview with Daily Star, reports dailymail.co.uk. "Ever since the beginning of my career -- I suppose it's my self hatred and low self-esteem -- I presume no one would want to have Lily Allen written on a T-shirt," Allen said. Harbour bought some fake Lily Allen merchandise on eBay and tried to impress her wearing it for their romantic date. "David wasn't impressed with my last merch. He said it was c****y quality and he got some off eBay. We were on our first date in London and I went round to his place he was like ‘Do you think I should wear this or not?' It was terrible. It wasn't even Fruit of the Loom and it was green. I was like I am sure I have never approved that," added the 35-year-old singer, who is currently
