136 flights cancelled in Colombia after plane's emergency landing

  Bogota, March 31 (UiTV/IANS)  - More than 21,000 passengers were affected and 136 flights were cancelled in Colombia, following the emergency landing of a commercial plane at a major airport near the city of Medellin, Civil Aviation Director Jair Orlando Fajardo has said. The front landing gear of the LATAM Airlines Airbus A320-200 fell off shortly after takeoff on Tuesday afternoon, forcing the plane to turn back for an emergency landing at the Jose Maria Cordova International Airport in the town of Rionegro, Xinhua news agency reported. No injuries were reported during the emergency landing. Fajardo said that flights to and from Rionegro were cancelled for more than 12 hours, which led to delays and cancellations in other airports, especially in Bogota's El Dorado International Airport. Ex-journalist among 2 terrorists killed in Srinagar encounter

  Srinagar, March 30 (UiTV/IANS)  - Two terrorists killed in an encounter between terrorists and security forces at Rainawari area in Central Kashmir's Srinagar district have been identified as Rayees Ahmad Bhat and Hilal Ahmad Rah, officials said on Wednesday. Police said Rayees Ahmad Bhat had been a journalist previously running an online news portal while Hilal Ahmad Rah, a categorised terrorist, belonged to Bijbehara in South Kashmir. "Killed terrorist (Rayees Ah Bhat) was earlier a journalist and was running online news portal 'Valley News Service' in Anantnag. Joined terrorist ranks in August 2021 and was categorised 'C' in our list. Two FIRs were registered against him for terror crimes," police said. "Second killed terrorist has been identified as Hilal Ah Rah of Bijbehara, a 'C' categorised terrorist." Mumbai, March 29 (UITV/IANS)  The shooting for the upcoming fantasy adventure film 'Brahmastra' starring Bollywood couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt has wrapped up. The makers wrapped its final shooting schedule in Kashi, and is all set to hit the theatres on September 9. Alia took to Instagram where she shared a video clip. The clip seems to be from a song. She also shared a picture featuring the director Ayan Mukerji and Ranbir after a temple visit. For the caption, Alia wrote: "We started shooting in 2018. And now a finally ..   Valletta, March 28 (UiTV/IANS)  - Malta's Labour Party has won the general election with a comfortable majority, Prime Minister Robert Abela has announced. Speaking during a telephone call with the national broadcaster, Abela on Sunday said according to calculations by party agents as vote counting got underway, his party had a significant majority over the Nationalist Party (PN). The election held on Saturday was characterised by a record low turnout since independence, at 85.5 per cent , just over 303,500 votes. As the counting hall erupted into cheers, with party delegates celebrating the victory, PN Secretary-General Michael Piccinino conceded the defeat, saying party leader Bernard Grech had called Abela and congratulate him on his victory. Sanaa, March 26 (UITV/IANS)  Yemen's Houthi militia have claimed responsibility for fresh cross-border drone and missile attacks on oil facilities in Saudi Arabia, the third such attack in less than a week. "A number of bomb-laden drones targeted the oil refineries in Ras Tanura and Rabigh, as well as the Aramco oil facilities in Jazan and Najran ... A barrage of wing missiles targeted Aramco oil facilities in Jeddah and the Saudi capital Riyadh," Houthi military spokesman Yehya Sarea said on Friday in a statement aired by the Houthi-run al-Masirah TV. Russia halts peace treaty talks with Japan

  Moscow, March 22 (UiTV/IANS)  - Russia will no longer continue peace treaty negotiations with Japan in response to Tokyo's sanctions against Moscow over the ongoing war in Ukraine, the Foreign Ministry here said. Moscow will also cancel visa-free travel for Japanese citizens to the four disputed Pacific islands, which are known as the Southern Kurils in Russia and the Northern Territories in Japan, Xinhua news agency quoted the Ministry as saying in a statement on Monday. The Russian side is withdrawing from the dialogue with Japan on establishing joint economic activities in these islands, the statement said. Russia will also block the extension of Japan's status as a sectoral dialogue partner of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, it added. Saudi oil giant Aramco's net income in 2021 rose by 124%

  Riyadh, March 21 (UITV/IANS)-  The Saudi Aramco announced that its net income in 2021 rose by 124 per cent, reaching $110 billion. The Saudi oil giant also declared a fourth-quarter dividend of $18.8 billion, to be paid in the first quarter of 2022, Xinhua news agency quoted a statement published on its website. The company said the hike in net income reflects higher crude oil prices and stronger refining and chemicals margins, adding that its free cash flow was $107.5 billion in 2021, compared to $49.1 billion in 2020. "Although economic conditions have improved considerably, the outlook remains uncertain due to various macro-economic and geopolitical factors," Aramco's president and CEO Amin H. Nasser said. The company said it aims to raise the maximum sustainable capacity of crude oil to 13 million barrels per day by 2027 and increase gas production by half by 2030. 'Sharmaji Namkeen' trailer shows heartwarming story of self-discovery

The drama which stars the late Rishi Kapoor in his final role, and Paresh Rawal both playing the same character, tells the story of a 58-year old widower, who rekindles his passion for cooking post his retirement. The trailer shows the protagonist B.G. Sharma, essayed by Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal, as he tries to get a grip of his life post-retirement and eventually discovers his passion for culinary art. Rishi Kapoor had shot major portions of the film before his unfortunate demise in 2020. The makers of the film then tried to work around the story and actor with even Rishi's son Ranbir stepping in to play the part with the help of prosthetics and VFX. But, things didn't materialize until Paresh Rawal stepped in to play the character and helped the film reach completion. Washington, March 14 (UiTV/IANS)  - US President Joe Biden and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron have reaffirmed their commitment to hold Russia accountable for its war on Ukraine, according to the White House. The two leaders made the commitment during a phone call on Sunday during which they discussed the current situation in Ukraine as Russian forces engaged in continued bombing and shelling of major cities. In a statement, the White House said Biden and Macron also "reviewed recent diplomatic engagements and underscored their commitment to hold Russia accountable for its actions and to support the government and people of Ukraine". Deuba thanks Modi for evacuating Nepali nationals from Ukraine

Kathmandu, March 12 (UITV/IANS)   Nepal Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Saturday thanked his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi for evacuating Nepali nationals who were stranded in the war-torn Ukraine. Taking to Twitter, Deuba said: "Four Nepali nationals have just arrived in Nepal from Ukraine via India. Thank you Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Government of India for the assistance in repatriating Nepali nationals through the Operation Ganga." Till date, India has evacuated six Nepali nationals from Ukraine. Nepal had sought assistance from the Indian government for the evacuation of its stranded nationals. 'Operation Ganga' launched by the Central government in New Delhi to rescue Indian citizens from Ukraine's neighbouring countries started on February 22. It lodged a fresh case against the alleged accused Delhi Police SI Bhojraj Sjngh on Tuesday on the recommendation of its senior officials. Singh was posted with Maidan Garhi police station. In October 2021, Singh was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a man in return of a favour in a case. Singh had allegedly demanded Rs five lakh from him. Singh had demanded Rs two lakh as token amount. A case was lodged by the police against the man and his friend at Maidan Garhi Police Station. Singh had promised to help him and also not to oppose the bail. Later, the man approached the CBI which laid a trap and arrested the SI while accepting the bribe. Kiev, March 10 (UiTV/IANS)  - The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on Thursday that Russia is not abandoning its plans to surround Kiev as Moscow's military invasion continued for the 15th day. In its latest update on Facebook, the military said that Ukrainian forces are repelling and holding back Moscow's offensive operation in all directions despite attempts by Russian troops to advance towards the capital city. It said the Russian troops have "lost their military capacity and are being introduced into the operation of reserves".   Moscow, March 9 (UiTV/IANS)  - Moscow has announced another humanitarian ceasefire to allow civilians in cities under attack to flee, according to reports by Russian state media outlets. The corridors will again be set up for Kyiv, Chernihev, Sumy, Kharkiv and Mariupol at 10 a.m. local time. It's the third time a ceasefire -- most of which have failed -- has been announced by Moscow, the BBC reported. On Tuesday, Ukrainian officials said they managed to evacuate 5,000 people from Sumy -- the first successful mass evacuation.
