  Algiers, April 15 (UITV/IANS)  France and Algeria have been working on reviving their bilateral relations, said French Foreign Minister Jean Yves Le Drian during his visit to the North African country. France and Algeria "were working on reviving bilateral relations," said Le Drian on Thursday after his meeting with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, adding that "Algeria and France share historical, deep and multiple human relations that bring together the two peoples". Diesel set to rise above Rs 200/litre for the first time in Pak

  Islamabad, April 14 (UITV/IANS)  The price of diesel is set to cross Rs 200 per litre for the first time in Pakistan's history on the back of soaring crude oil prices in the global market and sharp depreciation of the rupee against the US dollar, Express Tribune reported. In the second fortnight of current month starting April 16, the newly formed Pakistan government would be required to either jack up the price of diesel by Rs 60.54 per litre or enhance subsidy to maintain the existing price, officials said. If the leadership chooses to increase the price, the per-litre diesel cost will jump to Rs 204.69. Earlier, former Prime Minister Imran Khan announced a reduction of Rs 10 per litre in petrol and diesel prices and a price freeze till the announcement of Budget for 2022-23. Turkey aims to be "logistics superpower" by 2053: President

  Ankara, April 13 (UITV/IANS)   Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that Turkey aims to become a logistics superpower as part of the country's 2053 vision. The Europe-Asia-Africa trade triangle, in which Turkey is located, offers great opportunities for the country especially in the field of transportation, he said at a press conference after a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Xinhua news agency reported. Turkey has already made significant investments worth $172 billion in five main transportation sectors since 2003, he added. The railway investments have come to the fore. The railway network has been expanded from 10,959 km to 13,022 km, which will be lengthened to 28,590 km by 2053, he noted. Illegal mining in Tirunelveli: TN CB-CID extends its probe to Kerala

  Chennai, April 11 (UiTV/IANS)  - The Crime Branch-CID of the Tamil Nadu police, which is probing the illegal sand mining at Kallidaikuruchi in Tirunelveli district, has extended its probe to Kerala. Bishop of the Malankara Catholic Church, Samuel Mar Irenious, and five Catholic priests were arrested on February 6, following the CB-CID investigation in illegal sand mining at the 300-acre property of the Kerala-based Church at Kallidaikuruchi. On Saturday, the team arrested the former assistant director of the Tirunelveli mines and minerals department S. Safiya who incidentally hails from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. She is presently serving as the assistant director of mines and minerals department in the Nilgiris district. After questioning Safiya on the illegal sand mining at Kallidaikurichi at the 300-acre land owned by the Pathanamthitta Diocese of the Malankara Catholic Church, the sleuths took her into custody and later arrested her.   Minsk, April 9 (UiTV/IANS)  - The Belarusian government has compiled a list of unfriendly countries, and the list was published on the National Legal Internet Portal of Belarus on Friday. The list includes EU member countries, the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, Liechtenstein, Norway, New Zealand, Albania, Iceland, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and Switzerland, Xinhua news agency reported. These countries have acted "unfriendly" towards Belarusian legal entities and individuals, Belarusian media reported. The list was prepared in accordance with a presidential decree signed by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in March. Ukrainian Prez orders formal halt of trade with Russia

  Kiev, April 7 (UiTV/IANS)  - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky instructed the government to formalise the cessation of Ukraine's trade with Russia, the presidential press service said in a statement. The import and export operations between Ukraine and Russia have been completely terminated since the start of the conflict, the statement said on Wednesday. According to Ukraine's Fiscal Service, Ukraine saw a 38.7 per cent year-on-year growth in trade with Russia in 2021 with a value of $10.09 billion. Exports grew by 26.5 per cent to $3.44 billion, while imports increased by 45.9 per cent to $6.65 billion, Xinhua news agency reported. This UP IPS officer has adopted a school

  Lucknow, April 6 (UiTV/IANS)  - Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Chiranjeev Nath Sinha has become the first police officer in the state to adopt a school. Sinha has adopted a primary school in Aminabad area after taking due permission from the Basic Shiksha Adhikari. It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had asked state officials to adopt a school and encourage children to enrol under the 'School Chalo Abhiyan'. "I visited my adopted school on Tuesday and even taught the children for some time. I gave them books, copies, stationery, toffees, biscuits and masks. I will be regularly visiting the school and making efforts to upgrade facilities through my own resources," he told IANS on Wednesday. Sinha is known to be a passionate animal lover.
